Look at the services each one lists and the areas it covers, visit its own website, and ask for the price in writing — with what it includes — before you agree to any work.
A kitchen fitter installs units, worktops, sinks and appliances. Some also design kitchens, supply the units, and arrange the plumbing, electrics, tiling and plastering a new kitchen needs; others fit a kitchen you have bought elsewhere.
Gas appliances must be connected by someone on the Gas Safe Register, and new electrical work must meet the Building Regulations. Ask whether the fitter does this work or brings in registered trades.
Agree in writing what is included — units, worktops, appliances, taking out the old kitchen, plumbing, electrics and making good — and when the work will start and finish.
